Laptop Battery Case

Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network

Project Overview

I received a $5,000 grant from the Dartmouth Entrepreneurial Network to develop my laptop battery case invention. I have been working on both the internal electronics and the mechanical design of the product. I am designing a custom PCB that has a battery management system, state of charge meter, dynamic power delivery and a USB C interface. The short video below shows a development PCB I designed with the state of charge meter properly displaying the charge level of the battery pack. Once I validate the entire functionality of the circuit, I will layout a dense production PCB. I started out prototyping the housing for my design using a 3D printer, but I have moved on to working with a manufacturer in China to create aluminum prototypes. My utility patent for this invention can be found here.
